with Dr. Janice Sutherland & Michelle Woodruff
This is a conscious connected breathing technique, an active meditation, and vibrational mind-body medicine. Dr. Jan guides breathers into the somatic experience of the body, which allows for alignment of the left (mind) and right (body) hemispheres of the brain.
This innate intelligence of the body can be accessed through this technique to support you on your journey in healing, inspiration, manifestation, transformation, discovery, and remembrance of the true self.
WHAT to EXPECT
Movement and body awareness exercises
Breathing demonstration
Instruction and practice the technique and regulation tools, with guidance to make adjustments
Begin the Breath Journey - breathing with hands on support from 2-3 facilitators for about 1 hour
A beautiful soundscape of music supports the journey
Sound healing, aromatherapy, light body work, and guided meditation assist in finding presence and in integrating the energy and emotions moving through the body.
This is a grounded and activated technique. On the spectrum of breathing practices, this is more involved and activating than passive meditation, and less intense than the Wim Hof method and Holotrophic practices. We do not forcefully evoke catharsis, but release of emotion is invited, and natural at times. We teach self / nervous system regulation: expand the capacity to hold your own energy, emotion, sensation, and increase your stress threshold (that means less stress :)
You will be laying down on your back with props if needed.

Your Facilitators:
Dr. Janice Sutherland is a Naturopathic Doctor, also trained in Bowen Therapy and Breathwork Facilitation. She has been leading group breath circles in the Vancouver area since 2017. She guides her breathers to trust in their own innate healing wisdom, and she believes conscious connected breath work is one of the most powerful ways to access the vital force. This somatic therapy has been life changing for her and her patients. She is a synergiser, using techniques learned through Breathwave, Integrative Body Psychotherapy, Bowen, Yoga, and Naturopathic Medicine. She holds deep gratitude for her breath teachers: Dr. Dana Barton, ND, Robin Clements, and Jenn Field.
Michelle woodruff is an R.M.T, breathwave facilitator and bio energy healer. Being immursed in the healing arts her whole life, Michelle weaves manual therapies such as shiatsu, reflexology, and mindful touch along with aromatherapy, sound therapy and positive affirmations to gently guide breathers. With a special interest in chronic neck tension Michelle has found breathwork and is capacity to release emotions from the body as well as promoting a fully relaxed breathing reflex to be the best tool for long lasting physical body healing. She has been a Breathwave facilitator since 2017 and a local R.M.T since 2013. She thanks all her teachers and breath mentor Robin Clements.
