Escalating health care costs continue to be an issue of great concern for many employers, yet 80% of illnesses and disease in Canada are preventable. Incidences of cardiovascular disease, one of the most preventable diseases in the country, are on the rise and reports indicate that workplace stress is a key contributing factor. Prolonged office work has also been linked to many other health issues, costing companies billions of dollars each year in lost productivity, absenteeism and health insurance claims.
Worksite health promotion is the only proven strategy that uses prevention rather than treatment to offset the rising costs of health care. Workplace yoga in particular, is clinically proven to reduce stress, increase energy levels and improve overall health and well-being.
Our yoga classes are specially designed to counteract strain placed on the body from prolonged sitting or standing by stretching tight muscles and strengthening areas of the body that become weak from underuse. Yoga mats are provided free of charge for up to 20 participants.
We also offer annual workshops that teach employees how to prevent injury and relieve workplace stress and strain by incorporating 15 minutes of yoga into their daily work routine. Employees will learn simple exercises, stretches and breathing techniques they can do throughout their work day to foster healthier working conditions.
